Man bailed following Buckingham Palace gate crash

A man was arrested following a vehicle accident at the entrance to Buckingham Palace in the heart of London.

At the scene, armed Metropolitan Police officers apprehended an individual on suspicion of causing criminal damage; he was subsequently transported to the hospital and placed under sectioning under the Mental Health Act.

According to the force, no injuries were reported, and the offender has been released on bail.

It further stated that the incident is not being considered a terror-related matter.

The incident occurred at the royal residence on Saturday morning at 02:33 GMT.

The Metropolitan Police issued the following statement: “Ongoing investigations are being conducted to ascertain the circumstances.”

During the early hours of Sunday morning, scaffolding in front of the gate consisted of wooden boards and bolts, with the gold detailing visible from behind the boards.
