- Laurence Fox arrested and fired.
- Controversial remarks and GB News.
- Surveillance state concerns voiced.
The actor and political activist, Laurence Fox, faced arrest earlier due to suspicions of conspiring to commit criminal damage to ULEZ cameras. He also faced termination from GB News due to his controversial remarks concerning journalist Ava Evans.
Fox, who criticized GB News and called it a “GB joke,” expressed relief at being dismissed from the network. Following his arrest, he revealed that he learned about his dismissal while in police custody, where he was detained on suspicion of plotting to damage ULEZ cameras.
While in detention, GB News completed its internal probe into Fox’s “Dan Wootton Tonight.” comments against journalist Ava Evans. As a result, they “terminated their employment relationship” with the 45-year-old actor.
Outside Croydon police station, Fox said he learned of his dismissal in detention, “GB joke, not GB News. I learned about the firing at GB News there [at the police station]. They told me, ‘By the way, you’ve been fired, and there are a slew of paparazzi outside.’ And I was relieved.”

When asked about his detention, Fox responded, “They’ve released me.” He also mentioned Sadiq Khan’s directive to “make a big deal out of Loz” but noted that he had been previously intimidated by Khan’s police officers.
Regarding GB News, Fox added, “I don’t know whether it’s good for a business to lose its USP, but at least I don’t have to go there every Friday night and have someone pretend that they believe in free speech while not believing in free speech whatsoever.
GB News stated that its internal investigation of Wootton was ongoing, and another anchor, Calvin Robinson, had also been terminated.
Fox, the Reclaim Party leader, posted a video on social media earlier that day showing police investigating his home. The party posted on Twitter, “Live now @LozzaFox is having his house searched by the police,” along with a video of Fox speaking to the camera while surrounded by police officers.
In the video, Fox criticized what he referred to as a “surveillance state” in another home video shared on Twitter.
As Fox’s arrest was announced, Ofcom reported approximately 9,000 GB News complaints.
On Tuesday, Fox posted a video expressing his support for the so-called ULEZ Blade Runners, who had been destroying cameras. In the video, he encouraged their actions, saying, “I encourage them to destroy each and every camera. I will join them in destroying cameras because I am one of those individuals who places their money where their mouth is… I will be present with an angle grinder. And I would urge widespread abolition of the surveillance state… I would be delighted to be apprehended.”
A police spokesperson released a statement confirming the arrest of a 45-year-old man on suspicion of conspiring to commit criminal damage to ULEZ cameras and encouraging or assisting the commission of offenses. He was detained in Stockwell and transported to a police station in south London. He has since been released on parole until mid-December pending further investigation.
