The 19-year-old was last heard from on June 17 after setting out to walk for approximately 11 hours from a northern region of the Spanish island back to his holiday accommodation in the south.
A court official confirmed that the body discovered by rescue workers in Tenerife is that of British teenager Jay Slater.
A court spokesperson in Tenerife said fingerprints taken during a post-mortem proved the body was that of the British youngster.
According to the spokeswoman, the injuries sustained were consistent with a fall from a cliff.
Spanish police announced in a statement on Monday that the Civil Guard’s mountain rescue group had found the “lifeless body of a young man in the Masca area after 29 days of constant search”.
LBT Global, a charity that helps families of missing people and has been working with the Slater family, said the corpse was discovered with the 19-year-old’s belongings and clothes, and it is believed to have been near the last known position of his cell phone.

Mr Slater was last heard from on the morning of June 17. Around 8:30 a.m., he had started walking for approximately 11 hours in the island’s northern region back to his holiday lodgings in the south. He called his friend Lucy Law, informing her that he had missed a bus, his phone battery was at 1%, and he had injured his leg on a cactus.
He had flown to the Spanish island with companions four days before attending a music event at the Papagayo nightclub in the southern resort of Playa de las Americas.
The day before his body was discovered, Mr Slater’s mother, Debbie Duncan, described her son as a “loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many.
She also addressed the “very distressing” online remarks and conspiracy theories that have erupted since the teenager’s disappearance.
