Heardle challenged users to identify snippets of music as rapidly as possible; however, the streaming giant’s acquisition of the game was initially unpopular.
Spotify has announced that it will discontinue Heardle, the music-identification game inspired by Wordle.
The streaming behemoth acquired the game in July 2017, five months after it swept the globe.
Heardle played short snippets of music and challenged players to rapidly identify the song.
In contrast, Spotify stated in a new statement, “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to part ways with Heardle.”
The company had hoped that the game would assist users in discovering new music; however, it has now affirmed that it will concentrate on other features.
It is unknown if Heardle will continue to exist elsewhere, and it is scheduled to close on May 5.
Similar to Wordle, the game has become a daily routine for numerous music enthusiasts.
The magazine Vanity Fair describes him as a “web and app designer based in London.
After Spotify acquired Heardle the year before, some fans complained they couldn’t play.
“Why do large corporations destroy everything?”
Others were frustrated that their scores were not moved to Spotify, losing all of their gaming information.
