Princess Eugenie announced on Instagram that she has given birth to a son.
On May 30, she said, the King’s niece gave birth to her second child, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, with spouse Jack Brooksbank. She stated that he weighed 7 lbs 1 oz.
Eugenie stated that “his great-great-great-grandfather George, his grandfather George, and my grandfather Ronald” inspired the new baby’s moniker.
“Augie already adores being a big brother,” she added.
She shared a photo of her newborn son sleeping in a Moses basket while donning a knitted blue-and-white hat.
Eugenie, age 32, is the granddaughter of the late Queen and is the daughter of the Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York.
Master Brooksbank, the new member of the royal family, is thirteenth in line to the succession, displacing the Duke of Edinburgh to fourteenth place.
In a second photo uploaded to Instagram, August, Eugenie’s first child, rests his hand on the head of his new sibling.
The inspiration for Master Ernest’s middle name is his great-great-great-grandfather, King George V, who also had the middle name, Ernest.
The middle name is also a tribute to Mr. Brooksbank’s ailing father George, who passed away in 2021.
Ronnie is a reference to Major Ronald Ferguson, the father of Sarah, Duchess of York, who passed away in 2003.
In 2021, Eugenie gave birth to August at the prestigious Portland Hospital in the heart of London.
Most recently, the princess and her spouse attended the King’s Coronation at Westminster Abbey at the beginning of May.
