Police found the 33-year-old victim in a “pool of blood” with “wounds to the upper body and head” after he was shot in broad daylight near the pool of his holiday accommodation.
The death of a British tourist in Jamaica, according to local authorities, was a “contract killing”. Carried out by “unknown assailants.”

Officers made the dreadful discovery beside the swimming pool of the 33-year-vacation old’s home in Bogue Hill, St. James. Where he was vacationing with another guy from London.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Fitz Bailey said in a video statement on Wednesday. That their preliminary investigation suggests the murder was a contract killing that originated in Britain.
He stated Mr. Patterson had landed in Jamaica on 29 December and spent several days at an apartment before checking into the home on Bogue Hill on New Year’s Day.
Later that day, Mr. Patterson and the man staying with him met a third individual from Kingston. And they all remained in separate rooms at the guesthouse.
Mr. Patterson and the Jamaican guy walked to the villa’s pool deck around noon the next day. Where a “lone individual wearing a black hooded sweatshirt” was seen shooting rounds, according to Mr. Bailey.
“(The Kingston man) stated that he was facing away from Mr. Patterson. When he heard a series of loud booms that sounded like gunshots,” he continued.
He claimed to look around and saw a lone man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. And holding a revolver shoot Mr. Patterson.
The witness reportedly fled and hid in bushes.
Significant progress being made
The commissioner continued by stating that local authorities are collaborating with their international counterparts, including British police. And making “substantial progress” in the matter.
Lesley Wright, the mother of Mr. Patterson, told the Daily Mail in an interview. That her son had traveled to Jamaica for the first time to visit family.
The 63-year-old man stated to the news source, “I’ve lost my child. No mother ought to be required to bury her kid.
“We hope that justice will be served and that my son’s murderer will be taken off the street. So that he or she cannot hurt anybody else or devastate another family.”
Tuesday, a spokesman for the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office stated that they are “helping the family of a British citizen. Who died in Jamaica and is in communication with local authorities.”
