Two women were injured when a fallen firearm discharged during a police pursuit of a moped.

At 16:55 GMT on Friday, the Metropolitan Police reported that officers were pursuing two individuals who failed to stop in Clapham.

According to the force, the moped also collided with an individual from the public and subsequently crashed.

The three individuals who were fired at have been discharged from the hospital while the police pursue the suspects whose “reckless actions” precipitated the violence.

The Metropolitan Police stated that it had determined the shotgun discharged upon impact with the ground, having been dropped as the suspects escaped on foot.

Police stated that the two women, ages 27 and 36, who sustained shotgun projectile wounds were not intentionally targeted.

Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger stated, “Our investigation into the identities of the two suspects is still in its nascent phase; however, we remain resolute in our pursuit of all possible leads to apprehend them.”
