Rob Burrow, a rugby league star and fundraiser for motor neuron illness, had his wheelchair-accessible van vandalized on Christmas Day, according to his father.
Geoff Burrow stated that his son was outside in Castleford, West Yorkshire when the vehicle was attacked on Friday.
“They left quite a few significant scrapes on the back of the van at the ramp where we wheel Rob in,” he said.
He referred to the perpetrators as “cowards.”
The family was dining at the Rockello restaurant in Glasshoughton when they discovered the damage at approximately 21:00 GMT.
The family stated that they have been swamped with offers to pay for the repairs and firms ready to do the job for free in response to Rob’s father’s post.
Mr. Burrow remarked, “How somebody could do such a thing is beyond me, as the bag displayed a handicap sign and Rob’s disability badges on the front.
“The outpouring of generosity demonstrates that there are more good people than scumbags like this one, but we could have done without it; we’re suffering through enough as it is.”
According to him, the vehicle was parked close to the restaurant and was not blocking any driveways or yellow lines.
“It ruined a fun night out; they are cowards,” he stated.
“How could someone do that to a handicapped van? I suppose their sleeping habits are their concern.”
