Five girls remain in critical condition, while two boys and two girls lost their lives when the rain disrupted the festival at CUSAT University in Kochi, southern Kerala, and the crowd fled in search of shelter.

After a stampede at a music festival in India on Saturday, which also injured scores, at least four individuals have perished, and five are in critical condition.

The tragic incident transpired within an open-air auditorium on the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) premises in Kochi, Kerala’s principal port city in the southern region.

The attendees hurriedly sought sanctuary after the festival was halted by precipitation.

Response and Hospital Admissions

Minister of State Health Veena George confirmed in a series of Facebook posts that the remains of four individuals, two boys and two girls, had been discovered.

Ms. George stated that “many people were injured in the rush” at the university despite estimates that at least sixty individuals were injured.

Five ladies in critical condition in the intensive care unit were among 56 hospitalized.

Ms. George added that seventeen students have been released at this time.

Over one hundred ambulances have been dispatched to the location.

Additionally, private institutions have been warned to make arrangements to receive patients following the occurrence.
