The “heartbroken” family of Mr. Young declares that he had always intended to serve his country in the military. Dan Darlington, another British national, is presumed dead following a visit to Israel.
A British national serving in the Israeli army was killed in an assault by Hamas militants; a second British national visiting the country is also presumed dead.
Corporal Nathanel Young, aged 20, a native of London, was a combatant with the 13th Battalion of the Israeli Defence Forces.
His family posted on Facebook, “Our younger sibling, Nathanel Young, was tragically killed yesterday along the Gaza border.”
A second British national is also presumed dead in the vicinity of the attacks and is missing in Israel.

Dan Darlington, a UK native who formerly resided in Germany, had recently traveled to Israel.
Mr. Young attended Kenton, north London’s JFS Jewish comprehensive school, according to the Jewish News. In Raanana, north of Tel Aviv, he lived in the Bayit Shel Benji apartment for lone IDF personnel.
In a tribute, the family of Mr. Young stated, “Nathanel Young was vivacious and the life of the party. At Benji’s residence, where he lived as a lone soldier, and on base, he was called ‘DJ’
“He cherished his friends and family, and everyone adored him as well.” He loved music and DJed well.
“Always prepared to make any sacrifice for his family. An extraordinary brother and uncle. He flourished and was ecstatic in Israel. “He cherished his nation.”
Additionally, Nathanel was a gregarious individual whom my two young daughters adored interacting with and were always looking forward to his visits.
“When Nathanel could have taken his days off to sleep and re-energize, he instead found out where we were, which wasn’t always so close to him, and came to join us.”
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is reportedly communicating with and providing assistance to the families of multiple individuals in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Jake Marlowe, 26, has been “missing near Gaza” since Saturday morning, when Hamas attacked a music festival in southern Israel, according to the British embassy in the country.
