Shohei Ohtani marries Japanese woman

  • Ohtani announces marriage
  • Signed with Dodgers
  • Fans react online

Shohei Ohtani, one of Japan’s most eligible bachelors, has caused a stir on social media by announcing his marriage.

The announcement by the Los Angeles Dodgers icon was unexpected, given his meticulous maintenance of his personal life.

“In an Instagram post on Thursday, I wanted everyone to know that I am now married,” the 29-year-old wrote.

His Japanese bride was described by Ohtani as “someone extremely special to me,” but her identity was not disclosed.

“We will grow together as two people (plus one dog),” he wrote to his seven million Instagram followers, adding that a press conference would be held on Friday.

Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700 million (£552 million) contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers last year. This set a new benchmark and elevated him to the status of one of the highest-earning athletes in the world.

Ohtani, unlike the majority of players who specialise in either pitching or batting, exhibits equal proficiency in both areas, earning comparisons to the legendary Babe Ruth of American baseball.

He has been referred to as “Shotime” and is regarded as one of the finest performers in the world.

Ohtani received an overwhelming number of congratulatory messages on social media following the announcement he made in an Instagram post that garnered one million likes in under an hour.

However, quite a few were also disappointed to learn that the darling of the Japanese nation was no longer available.

“Ohtani, Shohei, is married. “Today is the most terrible day of my life,” read one post.

“I am ecstatic for him and extend my sincere congratulations to him and his spouse. “I admire that he made the announcement independently and according to his own criteria,” stated another user.

Ohtani, who is undergoing training in the United States, was also greeted with the best wishes of his teammates.

“When you must attend both a baseball game and a wedding on the same day.” The Los Angeles Dodgers congratulated Shohei Ohtani on his matrimonial union in an X post that featured a video of him performing during a game.

“Don’t miss out! Grab your free shares of Webull UK today!”

Ohtani left his followers to speculate regarding the identity of his future spouse.

“Isn’t it remarkable that this woman managed to accommodate his rigorous schedule and enter into matrimony with him?” pondered a social media user.

Baseball is immensely popular in Japan, and Ohtani joins an extensive lineage of Japanese athletes who have participated in professional baseball in the United States.

Ohtani occupied the entire top five trending topics on X in Japan shortly after his announcement.
