Myers disclosed his cancer diagnosis for the first time in May 2022, and he subsequently completed chemotherapy. Si King, his co-star, remarked that he would “miss him daily.”
Dave Myers, who appeared on Hairy Bikers, passed away at the age of 66, less than two years after disclosing his cancer prognosis.
Si King, a fellow chef and co-host, stated that he was present when Myers passed away “peacefully at home” on 28 February.
David, his close companion, his spouse, and his family were also “by his side,” according to a statement released by King on X.
The statement read, “I will miss him daily and the bond and friendship we shared for the better part of a lifetime.”
Brother, I wish you the speed of God; you have been and will continue to be a luminary in this world. Until we meet again on the other side. “I adore you.”
Courage Amidst Myers’ Cancer Battle
In May 2022, Myers, who was a member of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo alongside King, disclosed on the Hairy Bikers – Agony Uncles podcast that he was afflicted with cancer. However, he remained undisclosed about the specific type of cancer afflicting him.
According to interviews conducted in 2023, he disclosed that at times throughout his chemotherapy regimen he was rendered immobile and unable to operate his motorbike on account of his unsteadiness.
The TV chef resumed filming towards the year’s end and has traversed Scotland on screens since the beginning of February.
King praised his “extraordinary” co-star prior to the broadcast, stating: “This is a series we will never forget, but that does not mean we will never recall others.
We are extremely fortunate to be able to do what we do, and I believe this one was especially memorable due to Dave’s health, unwavering determination, and passion for his work.
It especially required extraordinary bravery and strength to continue doing it while he was undergoing treatment; this is another reason why Dave and I will never forget it.
Myers, who became acquainted with King in 1995 while working on the television drama The Gambling Man, was formerly a makeup artist.
In 2004, they made their joint television debut on The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook, a travel programme that combined a culinary segment and featured the duo cycling the length of Portugal.
Over the course of their nearly three decades of professional and personal friendship, the two individuals authored over twenty-five cookbooks.
In 2013, Myers also wowed audiences by competing on Strictly Come Dancing. Partnering with him was Karen Hauer.
