When tickets for Beyoncé’s first solo tour since 2016 went on general sale in the United Kingdom, there was a significant level of demand.
In May and June, the pop sensation will perform stadium concerts in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sunderland, and London.
On the Ticketmaster website, some visitors received an error message, while others reported being thrown out of the wait, which in some cases was 500,000 strong.
Three more London dates were added to make eight UK dates according to fan demand.
On Monday, the first pre-sales for her North American dates commenced.
Particular attention is placed on Ticketmaster’s management of the tour in the United States, given that the company’s systems were swamped by demand for Taylor Swift tickets last year.
When are the performances?
The concerts in the United Kingdom are part of a global tour in support of her Grammy-nominated Renaissance album.
The tour begins in Sweden on 10 May, followed by a week at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
She will then visit Murrayfield in Edinburgh on 20 May, the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on 23 May. And the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on 29 and 30 May.
After tickets went on sale to the general public on Tuesday. She added three additional events on June 1, 3, and 4.
How much do the tickets cost?
Beyoncé concert tickets in the United Kingdom range from £56 to £252.
VIP packages with guaranteed front-row or stage seats cost over £2,300.
Beyoncé’s latest song, Break My Soul, advised fans to “quit their jobs,” and many social media users derided the price.
Billboard claimed that the five-month tour could earn the celebrity as much as $275 million (£220 million).
What is taking place in North America?
After the November Taylor Swift disaster, Ticketmaster changed their approach for Beyoncé’s North American tour.
The corporation issued an apology after Swift’s Eras tour sales were affected by bots. Ticketmaster stated that there was a “poor user experience,” whilst Swift stated that she was irritated because many fans felt “like they endured many bear attacks” to obtain seats.
The US Senate is currently investigating the corporation.
Before the first North American pre-sale began on Monday, Beyoncé fans had to register for Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, which the firm claims eliminate touts.
Once demand exceeded supply, advance registrants joined a “lottery-like process.”
If there are any remaining tickets after people on the waiting list have been allowed to purchase them, they will be made available to the general public, however, this is doubtful.
When did Beyoncé last perform on stage?
Beyoncé’s 2016 Formation tour featured a 60-foot “monolith” LED cube.
She then embarked on a two-and-a-half-hour musical melodrama tour with Jay-Z. During which the couple reenacted their separation and reconciliation every night.
The actress played her first headline concert in four years at the launch of a luxury hotel in Dubai in January, but none of her new work was performed.
She reportedly earned $24m (£19.4m) for the one-off performance but was criticized for appearing in a country where homosexuality and gender transition are illegal.
According to critics, this contradicts the content of her most recent album, which expressly embraces black and queer dance culture.
What might we anticipate from our Renaissance tour?
Beyoncé conceptualized Renaissance as “a place to dream and find escape” during the epidemic, mixing her songs with many samples and references to club music, ranging from Nile Rodgers’ Studio 54 disco grooves and Grace Jones’ imperious soul to less-famous movements such as bounce and dancehall.
Exclaim magazine characterized it as “the sound of a once-in-a-generation superstar playing at the top of her game”.
Beyoncé has eschewed shooting music videos for the album, so the Renaissance tour will be the first opportunity for fans to experience her visual version of songs such as Break My Soul, Alien Superstar, and Cuff It.
We may also hear club-influenced remixes of classics such as Crazy in Love, Formation, and Single Ladies. As the artist typically reworks and revises past tracks to fit her current style.
