Manhunt after Folkestone hit-and-run kills 7-year-old kid

The police have initiated a search following the hit-and-run death of a child.

At 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, a seven-year-old was struck by a vehicle while walking along Sandgate Esplanade in Folkestone.

According to Kent Police, two vehicles were involved in the collision near the intersection with Prospect Road: an indeterminate car or van and a red Citroen car.

The unidentifiable vehicle left the location in the direction of Hythe before emergency personnel arrived, according to the force.

Witnesses and individuals with dashcam or CCTV footage are requested to contact the police.

Police and ambulance personnel responded to the scene, where it was determined that the boy had passed away.

Police stated that his next of kin had been notified.

Child’s condition remains critical following river fatality

Police say that a 13-year-old boy is still in critical condition after he and a 14-year-old boy became entangled in a river over the weekend. The latter was subsequently discovered deceased. Following an exhaustive search in the River Tyne near Ovingham Bridge, Northumberland, the remains of the older child were discovered. His demise was officially confirmed at the location. Northumbria Police reported that the younger child was extracted from the water and transported to the hospital on Saturday afternoon.
