Madeleine McCann police search Portugal reservoir after tips.

During the search of the Arade dam in Portugal, which is approximately 50 kilometers from where the infant went missing, British police will be present. Observe the live investigation of the Arade dam in the stream below.

After obtaining “certain tips,” the police searching for Madeleine McCann say they are searching a reservoir in Portugal.

On Tuesday morning, police divers were observed accessing the water at the Arade dam in Portugal.

The location is approximately 50 kilometers from where the British infant went missing in Praia da Luz, Algarve, sixteen years ago.

German prosecutor Christian Wolter stated, “We are conducting an investigation in Portugal based on specific tips.”

“At this time, I cannot disclose the context, including why we are searching there and what we hope to discover. This will remain a secret for the time being.”

Two officers were also sent into the reservoir in a canoe. Twenty to thirty officers were observed in the area, twelve of whom had sniffer canines.

Monday was the first day that vehicles and officers were observed at the reservoir site following the announcement of the new search.

German and British police are coordinating Algarve searches.

German police announced in June 2020 that Madeleine was dead and Christian B was likely guilty.

The convicted child abuser and drug dealer purportedly frequented the reservoir, referring to it as “his paradise”

Christian B is incarcerated for raping a 72-year-old woman in the same area of the Algarve region where Madeleine disappeared, but he has not been accused of a crime related to the disappearance.

He has consistently denied involvement.

Jon Clarke, the author of My Search for Madeleine and the first journalist on the scene when Madeleine disappeared, stated that Mr. Wolter received the report from a “credible source” in April.

Marcos Aragao Correia, a Portuguese attorney, hired divers to study the waterway in 2008.

He claimed that criminal associates had informed him that Madeleine’s body was in the reservoir, but nothing was discovered.

In 2014, Portuguese officials authorised British law enforcement to search scrubland near her disappearance.

Last month, a German court dismissed Christian B’s non-McCann rape and sexual offence charges.

Between December 2000 and June 2017, Portugal accused him with three counts of violent rape and two of child sexual abuse.

However, the court in Braunschweig determined that it lacked the authority to hear the case.

Attorney Friedrich Fulscher said the judgement meant court officials could not hear a Madeleine case. The court made no statement regarding his claim.

Madeleine was three years old when she went missing during a family vacation in 2007.

Last year, on the 15th anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance, Madeleine’s parents deemed it “essential” to discover the truth about what happened to their daughter.

Kate and Gerry McCann pledged to “never give up” searching for Madeleine on her twentieth birthday earlier this month.
