The stalker of Claire Foy is handed a suspended sentence.

A guy who stalked actress Claire Foy was handed a suspended jail sentence of 22 months.

The court previously heard that Jason Penrose, 49, wrote Ms. Foy over a thousand emails within a month and showed up outside her home in north London.

In November, Penrose was guilty of stalking and violating a prohibition on stalking.

His sentence hearing at the Old Bailey was postponed from the previous month. Following threats that he would continue to contact Ms. Foy, 38, in the future.

Penrose, an American citizen, has volunteered to be returned home.

A Met Police officer testified at a hearing last year that Penrose posed as a film director and producer who wanted the actress to star in his upcoming project.

“Fearful and powerless”

The court was informed that he had contacted Ms. Foy’s sister and agent, found out where she lived. And routinely rang her doorbell.

Ms. Foy stated in a statement delivered to the Old Bailey that she felt “terrified and helpless in my own home.”

“I’ve had to hold multiple meetings with my girls’ school, neighbors, family members. And coworkers who have all been touched by Mr. Penrose’s stalking and harassment. And whom all have real fears and concerns about his actions,” she said.

Penrose was sentenced to 22 months in prison, suspended for two years. With the judge stating that he did not mean to “create fear or anguish to Ms. Foy.”

Penrose was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and had spent time in a secure mental health facility in north London, according to the court.
