Pakistan spinners humble England for first win in seven Tests to even series

If a successful run chase appeared doubtful at the start of the day, with England's openers already dismissed and 261 runs still needed, it didn't take long for it to fall completely out of reach. England did not even get halfway to their objective, with Noman collecting eight second-inning wickets, seven of which came on a dizzying final morning, as they were bowled out for 144. Pakistan won by 152 runs, avoiding a series whitewash and securing a series decider in Rawalpindi next week.

Gunmen killed at least 22 individuals in southwest Pakistan after pulling them out of their vehicles and verifying their identities, according to officials. The attack took place overnight on a highway in Balochistan province, where security forces are fighting sectarian, ethnic, and separatist strife. According to police, the armed guys verified identifying documents before setting fire to the vehicles, explicitly targeting Punjabis.

The attack, which also injured seven police officers, was one of the worst against police in recent years. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have condemned the ambush and urged authorities in Pakistan to take speedy action against those responsible. Local reports said at least 11 police officers were slain in an ambush by armed assailants in eastern Pakistan. Police say the attackers were armed with pistols and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), and seven additional officers were injured.

Pakistani authorities have charged a man with cyber terrorism in relation to disinformation that is thought to have stoked unrest in the United Kingdom. Farhan Asif was linked to Channel3Now, a website that published an article in the hours following the Southport attack last month that gave the assailant a bogus identity and stated he was an asylum seeker who arrived in the UK by sea last year.
