- Charlotte Dujardin withdraws from Paris Olympics
- Withdraws after old video surfaces
- Apologizes, awaits investigation outcome
Charlotte Dujardin, one of Team GB’s brightest stars at the Paris Olympics, has withdrawn due to a four-year-old video in which she makes “an error of judgment” during a coaching session.
The 39-year-old, who has three Olympic gold medals, has withdrawn from all competitions until the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) examines the event.
“What happened was completely out of character and does not reflect how I train my horses or coach my students, but there is no excuse,” she said, her voice filled with regret. “I am ashamed and should have set a better example in that situation.”
A video from four years ago has surfaced, showing me making a mistake in judgment during a coaching session. Understandably, the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) is investigating, and I have decided to withdraw from all competitions, including the Paris Olympics, while this process is underway.

Dujardin, who won individual and team gold medals at the 2012 London Olympics and an individual gold in Rio, said: “What happened was completely out of character and does not reflect how I train my horses or coach my students, but there is no excuse.” I am ashamed and should have set a better example in that situation.
I genuinely apologize for my conduct and am devastated to have let everyone down, including Team GB, supporters, and sponsors.
I want to assure everyone that I will completely comply with the FEI, British Equestrian Federation, and British Dressage during their investigations. I am fully committed to resolving this issue and will not speak further until the process is over.
