On Friday morning, the silhouette of two pelicans, one of which was devouring a fish, appeared above Bonners Fish Bar in Walthamstow, northeast London.

A fifth Banksy painting has surfaced above a fish and chip shop in London, following four verified by the artist in various parts of the city earlier this week.

The silhouette of two pelicans, one devouring a fish, appeared above Bonners Fish Bar in Walthamstow, northeast of London, on Friday morning.

On Friday, the unnamed artist posted a picture of the piece on Instagram.

It comes as thousands of people gathered in Walthamstow on Wednesday to protest far-right organisations targeting mosques and asylum seekers’ spaces.

A group wearing balaclavas removed a silhouette of a howling wolf painted on a satellite dish in Peckham, southeast London, just hours after it emerged.

The day before, three monkeys were spotted dangling from a train bridge over Brick Lane in the city’s east, near Shoreditch High Street.

On Tuesday, a stencil depiction of two elephants welcoming each other from bricked-up windows appeared in Chelsea.

On Monday, an ibex goat was painted right over a CCTV camera at Kew Green, in the capital’s southwest.

Banksy typically waits months between his artworks and confirms them as soon as they surface on social media.

With one posted every day this week, there has been much discussion regarding the meaning of the animals, but he has not labelled any of the Instagram photographs, adding to the mystery.

In June, the anonymous artist from Bristol made news by releasing a migrant boat project over the crowd at Glastonbury amid performances by Idles and Little Simz.

He was also responsible for another piece of artwork on the wall of a block of apartments in Finsbury Park, north London, which was later vandalised in March.
