In her first television interview since losing the libel action to Rooney, the wife of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy discussed her mental health issues during the dispute.

Rebekah Vardy stated that there was “a lot of sexism” in the coverage of her court dispute with Coleen Rooney over “Wagatha Christie.”

Vardy attempted to sue her fellow WAG for defamation, but a High Court judge concluded that Rooney’s Instagram post accusing Vardy of leaking to The Sun was “basically factual.”

In her first television interview since losing her libel case against Wayne Rooney, the wife of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy discussed the legal battle and the mental health issues she has endured since the controversy began.

Vardy was asked by TalkTV’s Kate McCann if she believed the media’s criticism of her and Rooney’s attire during the trial was affected by sexism. She responded, “Absolutely – the whole thing was presented in such a nasty manner.”

Vardy, 40, noted that she did not believe Johnny Depp’s wardrobe during his recent high-profile trial with Amber Heard was treated to the same kind of scrutiny.

She continued, “It appears that women are not permitted to defend themselves. Women are not permitted to dress well. Indeed, there is a great deal of misogyny involved.”

Vardy also pondered its impact on her personally since the first post in 2019, noting that there were times when she “didn’t even want to be here anymore.”

She continued, “It was the worst sensation, but at the same time, I felt I shouldn’t be feeling that because to me, it would have been a sign of failure, and for the sake of my children, it was not an option for me to be perceived as such.”

The prior I’m Famous… Get Me Out of Here! Since the dispute with Rooney began, the competitor has disclosed that she has been hospitalized twice for mental health difficulties and believes she is likely suffering from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

Reflecting on the possibility that she will return to medication, she stated, “There’s nothing to be ashamed of; if it helps, I’ll take it, since I believe that everyone must recognize their strengths and flaws and recognize when they need assistance.”

In 2019, Rooney released a post in which she claimed to have conducted a months-long “sting operation” and accused Vardy of spreading “false allegations” about her private life to the media.

The wife of former England footballer Wayne Rooney stated publicly that Vardy’s Instagram account was the basis of three articles in The Sun containing false information she had placed on her private Instagram stories.

Vardy denied leaking allegations to the media and sued Rooney for libel. In May, both women participated in a week-long trial at the High Court in London, which drew significant media attention.

Vardy revealed to TalkTV that she regrets that the debate escalated to such a degree, but she repeatedly asserted that she still maintains her innocence.

She stated that she is “disappointed” with the verdict, stating, “I didn’t anticipate it to go that way, but I think the judge didn’t grasp the case and didn’t consider anything.

It appears as though the judge simply read what was reported in the media and adopted their narrative slant.

Vardy also stated that her legal team never warned her not to pursue the case, saying, “Because they know I didn’t do it, and that is precisely why I pursued it for as long as I did, and I will say it until I’m blue in the face: I did not do it.”

She stated that she harbors “no ill will” toward Rooney but believes she would have intervened if she had observed the fellow footballer’s wife receiving the flood of online hate she had received.
