Paul Mescal claims that the experience was “strange” and that he confronted the woman about her behavior. But that “97%” of his fame has been positive thus far.

Paul Mescal, an Oscar nominee and protagonist of Normal People, has described his “fury” after a fan groped his behind.

When a woman inquired for a photo, Mescal said he was outside London’s Almeida Theatre. Where he is starring in a critically acclaimed production of A Streetcar Named Desire.

“As we posed, she placed her palm on my arse. I believed it was an accident, so I retreated, but the hand followed “He spoke with ES Magazine.

“I recall tensing up and feeling just, like, furious. And I asked her, “What are you doing?” Remove your hand from my a$$.”

The 27-year-old stated that it was “uncomfortable for everyone involved” and that he did not want to “call somebody out in front of the theatre,” but that “it was so disgusting and creepy.”

Mescal, however, characterized his experience with fame up to this point as exceedingly positive.

“97% of it is really lovely, and 3% of it is someone grabbing your behind,” he said.

After starring alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones in the 2020 adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel Normal People, the Irish actor rose to prominence.

Mescal will be thrust into the spotlight of Hollywood at next month’s Oscars, where he is nominated for his portrayal in the coming-of-age film Aftersun.

He told The Hollywood Reporter that the nomination for best actor came as a “huge surprise” and that he was looking forward to the renowned Oscars afterparties.

“I think the Irish can shine at the Oscars’ after-parties,” he said.

For their performances in The Banshees of Inisherin, his fellow countrymen Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, and Kerry Condon are all nominated.

Mescal continued, “I feel like [Irish actors] have always overrepresented ourselves.” “In terms of population alone, we strike well above our weight.”
