- Concertgoer Throws Drink at Cardi B, Rapper Responds with Mic Throw
- Incident Captured on Camera at Las Vegas Concert
- Past Instances of Objects Thrown at Celebrities During Performances
Cardi B became the latest celebrity to be hit by a concertgoer’s drink.
The thirty-year-old responded by hurling her microphone at the concertgoer.
The pre-recorded backing music played the rapper through the speakers even though she no longer had a microphone.
The incident occurred in Las Vegas and was captured from multiple angles on camera by several admirers.
On the video, security personnel can be seen encircling the offender and retrieving the rapper’s microphone.
Cardi B instructed an audience member to spray her behind as she turned to the crowd in earlier concert footage.
Later in the performance, the rapper explained that the earlier spray was on her back and at her request, whereas she objected to the other audience member pouring water in her face without her permission.
Later, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department verified that a showgoer had “reported a battery.”
“According to the victim, she was attending an event on July 29, 2023, at a property located in the 3500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard,” police in Las Vegas said in a statement. “During a concert, she was struck by an item that was thrown from the stage.”
Although Cardi B’s microphone was live, the fact that her voice could still be heard on the backing track after she threw it prompted accusations of lip-syncing and humorous comparisons to Milli Vanilli from the 1980s.
This is the most recent instance of an audience member interrupting a performance by tossing an object onto the stage.
Bebe Rexha was injured in June when a man hurled his phone onto the stage, striking her in the face.
The individual, identified as Nicolas Malvagna, 27, of New Jersey, was later charged with two counts of third-degree assault, one count of second-degree harassment, one count of second-degree aggravated harassment, and one count of third-degree attempted assault.
In November, Harry Styles was hit in the eye with a sweet during a concert, and Pink appeared uneasy when a bag of human ashes was tossed on stage during her London performance.
Cardi B pled guilty to two strip club fight charges to avoid trial and jail time.
At the time, she stated, “I am not afraid to face my past mistakes and accept responsibility for them.”
Cardi B’s most popular songs include I Like It, Up, Bodak Yellow, and WAP, a collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion.
