Nicole Kidman, who received the Life Achievement Award from the American Film Institute (AFI), stated, “It is an honour to create films.”
Kidman, who is 56 years old, is the inaugural Australian actor to receive the organization’s highest honor.
Meryl Streep bestowed the esteemed award upon the Moulin Rouge actress in Hollywood.
In addition to her spouse, the performer Keith Urban, co-star of Big Little Lies Reese Witherspoon was also in attendance.
In a floor-length, iridescent gold Balenciaga gown, Kidman accepted the award and expressed gratitude to every director with whom she has collaborated.
Cinema production is a prestigious honor. “It was an honour to have collaborated with these storytellers on films and television, who gave me the freedom to act as all of these unconventional women,” she remarked.

During the ceremony, Kidman shed tears as her spouse remarked that she exemplified “true love in action” when his substance abuse issues surfaced shortly after their 2006 wedding.
“I’m in rehabilitation for three months, four months into our marriage,” Urban said about Kidman and their two adolescent daughters, who were present with her for the first time on the red carpet.

The award, which the AFI considers the “ultimate accolade in American cinema,” has been bestowed upon Julie Andrews, Steven Spielberg, Robert De Niro, Streep, Julie Andrews, Denzel Washington, and Martin Scorsese, among others.
Kidman and Tom Cruise debuted in Hollywood together in the 1990 film Days of Thunder; they were married the same year.
Following her divorce from him in 2001, her stardom continued to soar.
She was nominated for her first Academy Award in 2001 for Moulin Rouge and went on to earn the award for Best Actress in 2003 for The Hours.
