After being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2021, the television personality has shared another health update on social media and commended the National Health Service.
Merlin Griffiths of First Dates has provided an update on his progress since being diagnosed with cancer, verifying he is “all clear” for the time being.
After being diagnosed with the condition in 2021, the 48-year-old posted a message to his social media followers.
In April of this year, the Channel 4 personality stated that he had been “clear” of the disease.
In his most recent Instagram post on Wednesday, Griffiths included a “final Year 1” scan.
The post stated, “Hello, Merlin I wish you well. Your CT scan results have just arrived.
There are no indications of a repeat occurrence. I hope this is comforting.”
Griffiths captioned his post, “Final Year 1 scan results are in, and it’s ALL CLEAR for now.”
The celebrity also thanked the National Health Service as he shared the news on his platform.
On the post, Griffiths was inundated with messages of support.
James Martin, a British chef and television personality, wrote, “Brilliant news fella, just brilliant, see you at the house and stay for four drinks.”
Griffiths responded, “Thank you, James. You’ve contributed significantly to my optimism over the past few years, friend.”
The path is now more apparent.
Following tumor removal surgery in 2021, Griffiths thanked the NHS for “literally saving my life.”
At the time, he posted a beaming selfie to Instagram and Twitter and updated his followers on his “robotic surgery.”
He penned, “And breathe.” 6 days, beginning to end.
“It’s time for true cancer recovery. I’ve had open laparotomies before, and the recuperation period was six weeks in the hospital!! Amazing.”
He subsequently revealed additional information about his surgery and thanked the NHS for its “excellent” cancer care.
Griffiths stated in a tweet, “Now that I’m home, I’d also like to share that the excellent #cancer care was administered jointly by MDTs at @OUHospitals and @nhsuhcw.
“Treating patients with the most recent gold (standard) protocols for optimal outcomes. Highly recommended if you require a referral.
“The journey is not yet complete. However, the path is currently clearer than it has been for a considerable time. #BowelCancerAwarenessMonth #NHS”
Griffiths rose to prominence as the barman who conversed with contestants while they waited for their match on the Channel 4 program First Dates.
