Mel Giedroyc has withdrawn from her upcoming pantomime citing “personal concerns.”

The 54-year-old had been scheduled to star opposite Sir Ian McKellen and John Bishop in a touring production of Mother Goose.

However, in a Wednesday statement, she said: “I have made the tough choice to withdraw from the upcoming production of Mother Goose due to personal concerns.

“I am grateful to the show’s producers for their understanding and wish everyone involved a successful tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland.

“Now, more than ever, we all require a dose of happiness, and I can’t wait to witness it for myself. I am confident that it will be wonderful.”

The former host of the Great British Bake Off was slated to play the lead.

The show is written by Jonathan Harvey of Coronation Street and directed by Cal McCrystal. It chronicles the story of Mother Goose and her husband Vic, who live in an abandoned Debenhams department store and manage an animal sanctuary until the arrival of a goose turns their lives upside down.
