Rain and lightning pelted the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, during Lady Gaga’s Chromatica Ball performance, necessitating its cancellation for the safety of both the performers and the audience.

Lady Gaga was forced to abandon her final Chromatica Ball world tour concert in Miami due to a lightning storm.

The Born This Way singer posted an emotional video on Instagram, apologizing to her 53 million fans and explaining that the event could not continue because “even when the rain sort of stopped, lightning was striking so close to the ground”

Chromatica Ball’s globe tour kicked off on July 17 in Dusseldorf and has since visited London, Paris, Tokyo, Stockholm, Arnhem (Netherlands), Toronto, and several U.S. states.

Saturday night, September 17, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, was the final night of the tour. She was forced to leave the stage with only six songs remaining.

In the two-and-a-half-minute video, Gaga is still wearing her latex bodysuit and stage makeup as she sobs, “We truly tried to finish the concert tonight in Miami, but we couldn’t.”

She continues, “I know that for a very long time, I’ve always wanted to be like that hard-core, terrible b****, but what I truly want is to be responsible and loving, and I don’t know what I would do if anything were to happen to anyone in the crowd or any member of my crew, band, or dancers.”

“So I’m sorry that we didn’t get to do the epic performance of Rain On Me in the rain, but what’s more important to me is life, and to whoever threw these to me on stage, I will cherish them forever,” she says while clutching a bouquet of red roses.

Gaga, who has previously discussed her struggles with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and fibromyalgia, goes on to say that it had been difficult to “get back to a place where I could perform and be healthy, and I hope you know that part of the reason I decided not to finish the show is that I am healthy and it is a healthy decision for all of you and myself”.

She concluded by saying, “I’d rather be dry, but we’re all alive so go home and be safe and I’ll see you the next time I’m on stage, and until then Chromatica will never end because Chromatica is about healing and Chromatica is about knowing that you’re enough, and I feel enough tonight even though I didn’t get to finish, I feel like enough, so thank you for giving me that, I love you.”

Chromatica, her sixth studio album, was released in May of 2020 and featured collaborations with Ariana Grande, Elton John, and Blackpink. It was the sixth consecutive number-one on the Billboard 200 for Gaga (the US music album charts).

In 2021, she published Dawn Of Chromatica, a remix of Chromatica that featured more collaborations with musicians including Charli XCX and Rina Sawayama.

Gaga added in a second written Instagram post: “I’m sorry I couldn’t finish the show because the lightning was too unpredictable and constantly changing, but I love you.

“Even though some of you have referred to me as “mother monster” for years, I felt it was better to keep you safe. Thank you for having faith in me.

This was the best trip of my life, and I will never forget it; it took me a long time to recover, but I did.
