- Kiss adopts holographic avatars
- Industrial Light & Magic collaboration
- Digital personas for global performances
Hollywood special effects company Industrial Light & Magic and Swedish firm Pophouse Entertainment, which created the avatars for the Abba Voyage performances in London, have collaborated to produce the holographic stars.
Kiss will continue to exist as digital avatars resembling superheroes following their final live performance in New York.
On Saturday evening, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer, and Tommy Thayer descended from the stage at Madison Square Garden in the city, where they unveiled their recently adopted digital personas.
Holographic stars bearing the names Demon, the Starchild, Catman, and Spaceman were generated by Industrial Light & Magic using motion capture technology.
Since its establishment in 1975 by Star Wars creator George Lucas, the Hollywood special effects company has contributed to producing films such as Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and The Avengers.
Also participating was the Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment, which developed the avatars used in the London Abba Voyage performances.

Stanley, the lead singer of Kiss, stated that the avatars, adorned with the band’s signature makeup, would “Instagram Kiss.”
“What we’ve accomplished has been amazing,” he reiterated.
“However, it is not sufficient. The band is more significant than we are; therefore, it is deserving of continued existence.”
The inaugural performance of Virtual Kiss following their debut was titled “God Gave Rock And Roll To You.”
“Locations past our wildest imaginations”
The personas will be accessible for global live performances and digital online environments, which some individuals call the metaverse.
Ariana Grande and Lil Nas X are two pop artists who have performed in the viral video games Fortnite and Roblox, respectively.
Simmons, bassist for Kiss, stated that the group will visit “locations we have never before imagined.”
They have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, toured over 30 times, and sold over 100 million albums globally in the fifty years since their formation in 1973.
