Seiter starred in a 2015 season of the long-running reality show The Bachelorette and was eliminated after the first week. Since then, he has been vocal about his mental health struggles, posting about his depression and anxiety just last week.
Josh Seiter, a former reality show contestant, passed away at the age of 36, according to his family.
His family wrote on his Instagram page, “It is with a heavy heart that we share the tragic news of Joshua’s untimely departure.
“As all who knew him can testify, Joshua was an extraordinarily bright light in a world that was becoming increasingly dim. His courageous voice and indomitable spirit made thousands of people feel less alone in their darkest moments.
“Although our grief over Joshua’s departure is immeasurable, we take solace in the fact that he is finally at peace.
“We hope and pray that his essence will continue to live on through the images and words on this page, which we will leave up for now. During this time, we respectfully request privacy as we lament.”
His family did not discuss the cause of his passing, but they did provide information for crisis prevention organizations.
In the first week of the 2015 season of The Bachelorette, he was eliminated.
It is believed that he was most recently dating Ru Paul’s Drag Race star Monica Beverly Hillz, who paid tribute to him on Instagram with photos of the two of them and the words “RIP my honey”
She subsequently added, “I’m heartbroken and trying to find the words to express my sorrow, but I have none!!!”
Kaitlyn Bristowe, the eligible bachelorette on Josh’s season of the popular program, also posted a message: “My condolences to Josh’s family, I still can’t believe it.”
Later, she stated in a video, “I still can’t believe what happened to Josh, I’m so heartbroken. However, I pray he rests in peace and is now with God.”
Recently, Seiter posted on Instagram, “Surviving depression and anxiety one day at a time with a smile”; he has a history of being upfront about his mental health struggles.
