Jayde Adams, a comedian, has been announced as the fifth contestant for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

She joins actors Kym Marsh and Will Mellor, Kaye Adams of Loose Women, and Richie Anderson of Radio 2.

“I cannot even begin to describe my emotions,” she said in a statement. This is extremely important to me and my family.

In September, the dance competition will return to BBC One.

Jayde Adams, who is now playing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, is a multiple-award-winning comedian and actress.

She stated that she has been a “huge” fan of the show for many years.

She added, “I’ve always watched it, except for a little sabbatical in 2011 when I was tirelessly gigging every weekend in an attempt to go on Strictly.”

“I feel as though I am observing myself in a dream, and I cannot believe I have manifested this. The act of restraining myself has been torturous!”

This year, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Shirley Ballas will all return to the Strictly judging panel.

They will be joined once more by Anton Du Beke, who has replaced Bruno Tonioli permanently.

In the next few days, more competitors will be revealed. These celebrities have confirmed their participation thus far:

Kym Marsh

Marsh is presently the host of BBC One’s Morning Live and has previously been in Coronation Street and The Syndicate.

She told, “I’m anxious, but I’m looking forward to it.”

Marsh was a member of the pop group Hear’Say, which was formed on the talent program Popstars, in the early 2000s.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been on stage, performing in that manner, so it’s going to be quite difficult, but I’m ready for the challenge,” she remarked on her participation in Strictly.

When asked how she would respond to the judges’ criticism, she joked: “Listen, in Popstars, I was assessed by Nasty Nigel, who was the antagonist at the time, so I believe I would be all right.

Will Mellor is recognized for his roles in Hollyoaks, Coronation Street, Casualty, Two Pints of Lager, and a Packet of Crisps.

The actor stated that he was “genuinely thrilled to be participating” in Strictly Come Dancing.

Mellor told that participating in the show was becoming increasingly frightening.

When asked if he was a good dancer, he responded: “It depends on how you define “well.” I dance in the kitchen or at gatherings like everyone else, but what I’m doing here is completely outside my comfort zone.”

He elaborated: “A while ago, my perspective entirely shifted, and I decided that I must begin doing things that scare me.

“I lost my father in 2020, and from that point forward, I’ve believed that I must seize life. I need to make fresh memories.”

When I Need You by Mellor reached number five on the UK singles chart in 1998.

Recently, he toured the United Kingdom with a live version of Two Pints with Will and Ralf, the popular podcast he co-hosts with Ralf Little.

Richie Anderson

The host stated that joining Strictly was a “dream come true” and that he “cannot wait to don those sparkles and sequins.”

“Strictly is the ultimate feel-good show; whenever I hear that classic theme song, it’s pure escape,” remarked Anderson.

“I’ll have to cancel my annual epic Strictly launch night kitchen party,” he said, adding, “I’m sure my friends and family will understand.”

Following Nicola Adams and John Whaite, Anderson will become the third celebrity participant to participate as part of a same-sex pair.

“I remember watching Nicola Adams do it a few years ago and John Whaite do it last year, and I remember thinking that it would have been incredible to see John and Johannes and Nicola and Katya on such a large stage while I was growing up and coming to terms with who I am or am not.”

Kaye Adams

Kaye Adams, age 59, is a well-known presenter of ITV’s Loose Women.

She stated, “I stated that I wished to make the final year of my fifties memorable, and I can’t think of a better way to do it than by displaying my two left feet to the world. Please pray for me!”

Jayde Adams will join the cast of Strictly Come Dancing in 2022.

In addition to hosting the ITV topical debate show, she also hosts the BBC Radio Scotland morning show.

She began her career as a news anchor for numerous television networks, including STV, the BBC, and Channel 5.

This year, she launched her popular podcast, How To Be 60 with Kaye Adams.
