The actor and comedian became emotional as he expressed his gratitude to his admirers for their recent love, support, and prayers, as well as to his family, who “saved his life.”
Jamie Foxx claims he endured “hell and back” while being hospitalized for an unspecified health condition.
The Oscar-winning actor was recuperating from a “medical complication” in April, according to his family.
Foxx explained in a new, emotional Instagram video why he hadn’t spoken since becoming unwell.
He stated, “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes coming out of me and wondering if I was going to survive.”
The actor, comedian, and singer added that he would prefer his followers to see him “laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, making a film.”
Foxx did not provide any additional information regarding his illness.
However, the 55-year-old actor, who won accolades for his performance as Ray Charles in the 2004 film Ray, stated that his sister Deidra and daughter Corinne saved his life.
In the video, he said, “I cannot express how great it feels to have your family step up in such a way.”
“They kept it airtight, didn’t let anything out, and protected me, which is what I wished for everyone in these situations.”
The Django Unchained actor stated that his silence caused some rumors to “run amok,” but he refuted claims that he was blind or incapacitated.
“I traveled to hell and back,” he declared. “I experienced something I believed I would never experience.”
Foxx explained that his “road to recovery also has some bumps” but that he is eager to return to work.
He fought back tears as he told his fans, “I love everyone, and I appreciate all the love I’ve received.”
In his post, celebrities such as actor Dwayne Johnson, presenter Jay Blades, comedian Gabriel Iglesias, and actress Kyla Pratt expressed their support.
Johnson wrote, “When I see you again, I’ll bear hug the s*** out of you.”
Foxx announced in May that he would co-host the new US game show We Are Family with Corinne.
