Chris Fountain, well known for his roles as Justin Burton in Hollyoaks and Tommy Duckworth in Coronation Street, has revealed that he suffered a mini-stroke earlier in 2022. The 35-year-old stated that the blood clot causing the stroke was “like a ticking bomb.”

According to a tabloid article, former Hollyoaks and Coronation Street star Chris Fountain will undergo surgery after having a mini-stroke that left him “sounding like a kid.”

The 35-year-old celebrity claimed he would have perished if he had not reached the hospital so promptly.

In an interview with the Daily Mirror, Fountain, who portrayed Justin Burton on Hollyoaks from 2004 to 2009 and Tommy Duckworth on Coronation Street from 2011 to 2013, discussed his ordeal.

He reported spending five days in a London hospital in August after waking up at home unable to talk.

The actor reported that he was diagnosed with a transient ischemic attack (TIA), sometimes known as a mini-stroke when a blood clot became stuck in his brain.

“When I awoke one morning, I realized something was amiss,” he told the publication. “My mother called me, and I was unable to speak. I began strolling about my house and examining objects, but I was unable to utter words such as television or refrigerator.

“I contacted 111 on my mother’s recommendation, and they sent me an ambulance; it was so terrifying.

“I felt foolish because I knew precisely what I wanted to say to the doctors, but I couldn’t get the words out; I sounded like a child; I was mortified.”

When medics informed Fountain of the situation, he reportedly felt distraught and wept.

“What’s frightening is that if I hadn’t called 111 and gotten to the hospital so soon, I don’t know if that clot could have traveled to the incorrect part of my brain, and I may have died,” he said. This clot was a ticking time bomb in my skull.

At a specialized stroke unit at the Royal London Hospital, doctors established that Fountain’s blood clot was caused by a hole in his heart.

According to the story, he will need a tiny operation to close the hole, and it is believed that this would prevent further blood clots from traveling to his brain.

In 2008, in addition to his acting career, Fountain performed on Dancing On Ice. However, he was fired from Coronation Street after tapes of him rapping about violence towards women surfaced, for which he later apologized.
