- Efforts to Control the Blaze in Chiswick
- History and Significance of the Mansion
The fire at the £5 million mansion in Grove Park Gardens, which was the marital residence of Ant McPartlin and Lisa Armstrong, was reported mid-morning, and forty firefighters rushed to the scene.
A fire has damaged Ant McPartlin’s former mansion in Chiswick, west London, which was worth £5 million.
The Grove Park Gardens fire, which was reported to the London Fire Brigade at 9:46 a.m., was fought by six fire engines and approximately forty firefighters.
Using a 32-meter (105-foot) ladder, firefighters fought the blaze in the seven-bedroom residence.
The 4,435-square-foot property is rented out by the ex-wife of the celebrity, Lisa Armstrong.
Declan Donnelly, McPartlin’s TV companion, resides on the same road just a few doors down with his wife Ali Astall, and their two children Isla and Jack.
It is estimated that the home’s value has more than doubled since McPartlin and Ms. Armstrong purchased it for £2.3 million in 2006, the year of their wedding.
As firefighters battled the conflagration, a resident also told The Independent, “The fire appears to be quite severe and uncontrollable.” An ambulance passed me as I drove down the road with blue lights and siren on.”
The blaze was extinguished just before midday, with crews remaining on the scene until the afternoon.
No casualties were recorded, also London Fire Brigade is investigating the fire’s cause.
The couple was married for 11 years and together for about 20 years before filing for divorce in January 2018.
McPartlin entered rehab in 2017 after struggling with a two-year addiction to painkillers as a consequence of a knee operation. The breakup followed.
He admitted to drunk driving after crashing in southwest London in March 2018 while over twice the legal limit.
McPartlin first encountered Ms. Armstrong, a make-up artist, in the mid-1990s at a roadshow in Newcastle, when she was an aspiring pop star in the band Deuce.
In 2019, McPartlin married his erstwhile personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett.
