Both phones sport a 50MP primary camera, with the Pixel 8 now featuring autofocus on its second ultra-wide camera.
On the Pixel 8 Pro, every camera has seen improvements. Google explained, “Compared to the Pixel 7 Pro, the 48MP ultrawide lens captures 105% more light and focuses 30% closer for enhanced Macro Focus shots with stunning bokeh.”
“Additionally, the 48MP telephoto lens delivers even clearer 10x zoomed-in images in low-light conditions, thanks to its optical quality. Overall, it’s our most professional camera ever.”
The devices also offer a range of innovative editing tools. One of the standout tools is Best Take, designed to enhance group photos by automatically merging similar images into one using AI.
The Magic Editor tool, powered by AI, allows you to reposition individuals in photos without requiring expert editing skills. Google explained, “With Magic Editor, you can make intricate edits with ease, using a combination of AI techniques, including generative AI, to edit specific sections of an image like the subject, sky, or background, giving you greater control over the final look and feel of your photo.”
The Pixel 8’s 4,575 mAh battery and the following one’s 5,050 mAh battery provide over 24 hours of battery life.
Face Unlock, Google’s facial recognition system available on Pixel devices since their debut, has been enhanced with the Tensor G3 processor, enabling users to access apps and make payments via facial recognition.
Furthermore, the Pixel 8 Pro includes a built-in thermometer for quick temperature readings of objects.
The Pixel 8 comes in Hazel, Rose, and Obsidian for £699, while the Pixel 8 Pro costs £999 in Bay, Porcelain, and Obsidian.
