The corporation intends to expand its empire by opening 127 new hotels in London, which would generate 6,000 new jobs, and 16 in the North East, which will generate 400 new jobs.
The news was made as Travelodge unveiled its first “budget luxe” new-build hotels in London Docklands and Hexham.
Travelodge now operates 595 hotels in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Spain.
Travelodge’s chief property and development officer, Steve Bennett, stated, “We are thrilled to have expanded our hotel network to 595 Travelodges by launching five new hotels so far this year.
“This includes our first new-construction budget-luxury hotels in London Docklands and Hexham in northern England.
“Both of these places are growing rapidly, particularly because they are popular staycation destinations that attract millions of tourists from all across the United Kingdom.
“However, because more Britons choose budget hotels than any other hotel category, there is a dearth of high-quality, low-cost lodging in London and the North East.”
