Royal Authorization for Mining Exploration
Cornish Tin has been granted authorization by the monarch to conduct gold and silver exploration in pursuit of revitalizing Cornwall’s mining sector.
The Crown Estate, the monarchy’s portfolio of land holdings, has granted the company exclusive exploration rights to search for precious metals across 123,447 acres (14 percent) of Cornwall for the next six years, according to the company.
Cornwall’s Mining Resurgence
During its history, the county dominated the global copper and tin industries. The resurgence of its mining sector has the potential to increase employment in one of the most impoverished areas of the United Kingdom.
Essential Minerals for Modern Industries
The principal objective of Cornish Tin is to locate lithium and tin, both of which are indispensable in the transition to renewable energy and the manufacturing of batteries for electric vehicles and mobile phones.
The identification of gold and silver would increase the organization’s project funding.
Already holding exploration and extraction rights in the larger area announced today, the company possesses a 3,900-acre zone where it intends to search for tin and lithium. This zone includes its premier project, Great Wheal Vor, situated in the historic mining district of Breage.

The UK imports all tin and lithium, therefore industries are rushing to find domestic suppliers.
Sally Norcross-Webb, chief executive officer of Cornish Tin, remarked, “Our global environment is fraught with strife and supply chain disruptions involving vital minerals that are indispensable to British industry.”
Everything related to tin and lithium in the United Kingdom is imported; therefore, ensuring a secure supply is critical.
Cornish Lithium, Cornish Metals, Imerys-British Lithium, and Tungsten West want to boost UK mining.
Cornish Lithium successfully obtained an investment of £53.6 million from the UK Infrastructure Bank in August.
Meanwhile, in June of this year, British Lithium and Imerys announced their collaboration to establish a lithium mine in Cornwall, from which the company claims it will be able to extract sufficient lithium to fuel 500,000 electric vehicles by 2030.
A New Player in the Industry
Cornish Tin, founded in 2017 by mining and corporate finance attorney Norcross-Webb, is a newcomer to the business.
Investment and Exploration Plans
Exploration and funding will certainly delay production for five years.
It has raised £2.8 million and needs £3 million for a second drilling programme next year.
