Augmentum picks Lovefilm founder as chair

William Reeve, a co-founder of Secret Escapes, will become chairman of the London-listed investor in Zopa and Farewell.

This week, a backer of prominent British fintechs such as Tide and Zopa will announce one of Lovefilm’s founders as its new chairman.

Augmentum Fintech, listed in London, has hired William Reeve, one of Britain’s most experienced start-up entrepreneurs, to fill the position.

According to a source, his appointment might be confirmed as early as Monday.

Mr. Reeve co-founded Lovefilm, which was sold to Amazon, and Secret Escapes, an online tourism company that has received significant institutional investment.

He has also headed well-known software startups such as Nutmeg, a wealth management app purchased by JP Morgan, and Graze.com, a subscription snack brand acquired by private equity firm Carlyle.

Mr Reeve is now the CEO of Goodlord, a property technology company, and serves on the board of home furnishings giant Dunelm.

He is set to retire from the Dunelm board next month.

Mr. Reeve will chair Augmentum Fintech, which has invested in over 25 firms since its inception, including Interactive Investor, which was sold to fund manager Abrdn, and Farewell, a financial and legal services platform.
