The Reform UK convention will begin today at midday in Birmingham. Nigel Farage’s party insists on winning the next general election.

Reform claims that after obtaining five seats in the House of Commons in this year’s July election, they will be able to replace Labour in power by 2029.

Mr. Farage will use his keynote speech at the party’s summit this afternoon to offer a ‘clarion appeal for change.

In July, he was elected as Clacton’s MP for the eighth time.

However, the former UKIP leader is now being questioned over his assertion that he cannot conduct in-person constituency surgeries in his Essex seat due to security concerns.

He stated that he had been told not to hold ‘old-style’ physical gatherings to address local issues in case people ‘flood through the door’ with blades ‘in their pockets.’

Do I have an office in Clacton? Yes. Am I permitting people to enter the door with blades in their pockets? No, I’m not,” Mr Farage told LBC radio.

However, the Speaker’s Office and Parliament’s security team claim they need to learn of asking Mr Farage not to hold in-person surgeries in his district.

According to sources, neither would have urged any MP not to hold a surgery because it would interfere with their democratic obligations; instead, they would have provided security advice on securing their safety.

There is no record that such advice was ever given to Mr Farage.

In addition to Mr Farage’s speech, Reform deputy leader Richard Tice, chairman Zia Yousuf, and MPs Lee Anderson, Rupert Lowe, and James McMurdock are scheduled to speak at the party’s two-day conference in Birmingham.

During his conference speech this afternoon, Mr Anderson, Reform’s senior whip, said he aims to make significant gains in next year’s local elections and triumph in the 2029 general election.

He says, “We have five MPs, and our membership and support are increasing daily. Next year, we will win hundreds of council seats across the United Kingdom.

‘We must take this struggle to Parliament to regain control of our country and win the general election in 2029.’

Mr Anderson was Reform’s first MP after joining the party in March following his suspension from the Conservatives for making ‘Islamophobic’ remarks against London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

James McMurdock, whose victory in South Basildon and East Thurrock surprised Reform, will also discuss the party’s prospects in five years, claiming that the 2029 convention will be ready to welcome Prime Minister Nigel Farage.

The gathering comes a day after Farage revealed his decision to sell Reform UK.

Unlike other political parties, Reform is a limited company, with Mr Farage as its majority stakeholder.

However, he stated yesterday that he was changing the party’s ownership structure so that its members controlled it, adding, ‘I no longer need to govern this party.’
