Hamas’ armed branch has stated that the assassination of its top political leader will “take the battle to new dimensions and have major repercussions,” while Iran has promised to retaliate.

Israel’s prime minister has warned that aggressors will pay a “heavy price” following separate attacks that killed Hamas’ political head and a senior Hezbollah commander.

Hamas and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards reported that Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran on Wednesday morning.

Although the strike is widely considered to have been carried out by Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has not claimed responsibility and has declined to comment on the killing.

Without referencing Haniyeh’s assassination, Netanyahu stated that Israel has recently dealt heavy blows to Iran’s proxies, including Hamas and Hezbollah, and would respond brutally to any strike.

We are ready for anything, and we will stand unified and determined against any threat, he stated in a televised message.

Israel will exact a high price for any attack against us in whatever arena.

However, Mr Netanyahu commended the IDF for targeting Hezbollah senior commander Fuad Shukr in Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, in revenge for a missile fire in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that killed a dozen young people.

Mr Netanyahu described Shukr as “one of the most wanted terrorists in the world” and stated that “he was a key factor in the connection between Iran and Hezbollah.

Mr Netanyahu said he would “not give in” to calls to cease the war in Gaza.

It has stated that there has been a week since I’d been told, both domestically and internationally, to halt the conflict.

I didn’t give in to those whispers and won’t do so now.

Despite external criticism, Mr. Netanyahu stated that his government has made “brave, courageous decisions.”

We shall continue to battle together, and with God’s aid, we will prevail.

Mr Netanyahu delivered a “very confident, bellicose performance.”

“Invest in your future with Webull UK – get started with free shares.”

Israel has demonstrated that it can go anywhere in the area and defeat its foes, he said.

Retaliation Vows and’major repercussions’

Hamas’ armed wing has stated that Haniyeh’s death will “take the battle to new dimensions and have major repercussions.”

Iran has pledged retaliation, blaming the US for its support of Israel.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stated that Israel had laid the groundwork for “harsh punishment for itself” and that it was Tehran’s responsibility to avenge Haniyeh’s death.

Israel launched its attack in Gaza on October 7 after Hamas fighters killed about 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped 250 prisoners.

According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, which does not distinguish between civilians and fighters, over ten months of war have killed over 39,400 Palestinians and injured over 90,900.
