Social media footage depicts Arthur Cazaux on the ground, where he is seen preparing to be served by Harold Mayot, who leads 2-1 in the third set.

At the Miami Open, a French tennis player collapsed in the middle of a match.

Arthur Cazaux was compelled to withdraw from his Monday qualifier against Harold Mayot in the third set subsequent to a fall to the ground.

Cazaux levelled the score at 7-5 in the second set, which Mayot had earlier taken 6-4.

Social media footage captures Cazaux falling to the ground while preparing to serve his opponent with a 2-1 lead in the third set.

Cazaux, who is clad in black shorts and a white T-shirt, descends to his left in the video before landing on his back.

A number of seconds pass before a medical professional, and the match umpire enter the frame.

Later, the 21-year-old was wheeled off the court, ceding the victory to his compatriot Mayot of France.

For his response, Mayot, who is seen in another video posted to X walking over to check on Cazaux, was criticised on social media.

He subsequently wrote on X: “Cease igniting a pointless controversy.

“He had been experiencing discomfort for a number of games and was beginning to experience cramps.

“Because I failed to observe his fall, I assumed he was on the ground due to a cramp.”

“When I understood that it was serious, I immediately followed him, and I was very worried.”

He further stated, “I made every effort to assist. Our relationship has consistently been one of profound friendship and collaboration.

“You must cease constantly sending hateful messages.”

“I wish him a good recovery and the best.”

The third video available on X features the match umpire declaring Cazaux’s retirement “due to illness” while the player remains motionless on the ground, surrounded by Mayot and other officials.

Florida reportedly experienced 31C (88F) temperatures yesterday.

David Goffin of Belgium will now challenge Mayot for a spot in the main draw.

Cazaux advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open earlier this year, ranked No. 74 on the ATP rankings, his highest level of the year.
