The crash occurred on a railroad track in Montcada I Reixac, a municipality located north of Barcelona.

Two trains collided in northeast Spain, resulting in 155 minor injuries, according to Catalan officials.

Several passengers sustained minor injuries and are awaiting evaluation, according to a tweet from local emergency services.

A total of 39 passengers were transported to medical facilities for additional treatment, however, none of them were deemed to have suffered significant injuries.

Local media said that no one was critically injured and that the injuries were restricted to minor knocks and bruises, but officials provided no additional information on the severity of the injuries.

According to the Spanish Civil Protection, one train was stopped when a second train failed to stop in time and collided with it from behind.

More than 150 people

There were roughly 800 passengers on the two trains.

Ester Capella, the Catalan government’s representative in Madrid, told Spanish National Radio that the event is being investigated.

The trains were provided by Rodalies de Catalunya (Rodales), a public transportation operator that has operated train lines in Barcelona since 1990.
