Robert, who turned sixty a month ago, climbs without a harness, employing only his bare hands, a pair of climbing shoes, and a bag of powdered chalk to wipe away sweat.

Alain Robert, the French free climber nicknamed “Spiderman,” ascended a 48-story building in Paris to celebrate his 60th birthday.

Robert, dressed in red, rejoiced upon reaching the top of the Tour TotalEnergies skyscraper in the La Defense commercial sector of the French capital.

“I wish to convey to others that turning 60 is nothing to worry about. You may still participate in athletics, be physically active, and accomplish marvelous things “he added.

“I made a vow to myself years ago that when I became 60, I would climb the tower again, because in France, 60 is the age of retirement, and I thought it was a wonderful touch.”

Robert had previously scaled the TotalEnergies tower on several occasions. In addition to raising awareness about the need for climate change action, he also wished to use the ascent to generate funds.

In 1975, he began climbing, practicing on the rocks surrounding his southern French homeland of Valence.

Frequently climbing without authorization, he has been arrested on multiple occasions.
