Sunday at 04:00 BST, sprinter Ricardo Dos Santos tweeted a series of video tweets of him being stopped and questioned by police in Paddington.

An athlete who was reportedly subjected to racial profiling during a stop and search claims that seven armed police officers pulled him over a second time.

The Metropolitan Police stated that officers feared the motorist may have been using a cellphone.

Ricardo Dos Santos: Sprinter stopped by police for a second time.

The sprinter and his companion were subjected to a stop-and-search in 2020, resulting in a gross misconduct hearing for five cops.

In a statement released on Sunday regarding the incident, the Met stated, “The officers signaled for the car to stop over, but it did not, therefore they requested for backup.”

Mr. Dos Santos stated that officers assumed he was using his phone when they pulled him over in west London, and that one officer grabbed his baton out of his pocket “in desperation, ready to smash the glass” because he did not know how to unlock the car door.

Two years after he was stopped with his partner, Bianca Williams, and their daughter, he continued, “Nothing had changed.”

In July of 2020, footage of Ms. Williams and Mr. Dos Santos being searched and handcuffed went viral on social media, and Ms. Williams later accused the police of racial stereotyping.

After the search, information about the couple’s three-month-old infant was also entered into a police database called Merlin, which is designed to record information about youngsters who become known to the authorities.

In April, the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) announced that an acting police sergeant and four police constables will each face a disciplinary hearing for gross misconduct during the event.

The force stated the event on Sunday: “Armed officers were on routine patrol in a marked police vehicle.

“They observed a vehicle traveling eastward on the A40 Westway and were concerned that the driver was perhaps using a cell phone while driving.”

“Five minutes later, the motorist stopped at Orsett Terrace W2, and the officers inquired with him about the reason for the stop.”

“After the conversation, the vehicle was permitted to proceed. Since then, we’ve reached out to the driver via Twitter to invite him to get in touch if he wants to take this situation further.”
