A 13-year-old boy was also injured in the incident at the Tivoli Friheden amusement park in Aarhus, the country’s second-largest city.

The amusement park stated on its Facebook page that the accident occurred when the track was operational and a portion of the rear carriage detached.

Thursday at 12:50 p.m. local time, police were called to the scene after receiving reports that a car was stuck on a ride and that people were also stuck.

Henrik Ragborg Olsen, the manager of the amusement park, told the local newspaper Ekstra Bladet that the rear two seats of the Cobraen rollercoaster were suspended “under the wagon train.”

The newspaper reported that two rear-seat passengers were taken to the hospital.

The police are currently investigating the cause of the tragedy, which occurred approximately 156 kilometers (97 miles) northwest of Copenhagen.

A later statement issued by the park stated: “Today’s tragic accident, in which a girl was killed and a boy was injured, is difficult to describe in words.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the girl and her relatives, family, and friends. Additionally, our thoughts are with the boy, our staff, and the numerous park visitors from earlier today.

“We are cooperating with East Jutland Police and are currently awaiting the accident’s technical investigations.”

The amusement park has established a special hotline for guests who require professional crisis assistance.

The park will be closed on Friday, according to the statement.

According to the amusement park’s website, the rollercoaster has a height of 25 meters (82 feet) and a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour (44mph).
