Ten individuals, including three children, died when a church roof in northern Mexico collapsed.
The tragedy struck during a Sunday afternoon baptism at Ciudad Madero’s Santa Cruz church, with around a hundred attendees.
Sixty were injured, a couple severely, and many trapped beneath debris.
Locals rushed to the scene, digging with shovels and pickaxes to free those trapped.
Search teams and cranes arrived to clear the rubble. Tamaulipas’ governor confirmed all missing individuals were found using thermal imaging cameras.

The cause of the collapse remains unclear, but structural issues are suspected.
Priest Angel Vargas mourned the tragedy during a day meant for celebration.
One survivor, Josefina Ramirez, recounted the roof’s collapse during her godchild’s baptism, expressing gratitude for her family’s survival.
Local media reported that a WhatsApp message from a trapped person helped rescuers locate them.
Among the victims were an infant and a family with an eight-year-old son.
The diocese of Tampico, where the church is located, offered prayers for the victims.
