Bangladesh: Samira Islam, 20 years old, is the third family member to perish.

A 20-year-old lady is the third member of a British family to die in Bangladesh from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

Samira Islam, a resident of Cardiff, passed away around 08:30 BST on Friday, after being discovered unresponsive on July 26.

Her father, Rafiqul, 51, and brother, Mahiqul, 16, were discovered dead in a Sylhet apartment.

The fatalities are still being investigated by local authorities.

Sadiq, Samira’s 24-year-old brother, and Husnara Begum, Samira’s mother, were both in the apartment but have since been released from the hospital, according to sources.

Husnara and Sadiqul allegedly told police that the emergency energy generator at the residence where they were living was malfunctioning.

They allegedly told officers that it was utilized on the night of the event because of a power outage.

Supt. Farid Uddin stated that police officers accompanied Husnara and Sadiqul to the residence and that when the generator was operating, it emitted smoke.

This could have caused the family to suffocate, he claimed, and samples were sent to a laboratory for study.

The Cardiff family was visiting Bangladesh for two months when they were discovered comatose by a relative.

The relative stated that on July 26, when there was no response at the apartment, they peered through a window and saw the family sleeping on two beds.

Tuesday morning, police officers entered the building after the alarm was activated.

Sadiqul previously told officers he was unaware of what occurred; he awoke in a hospital around 23:00 local time after going to bed at approximately 23:00.

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Sylhet on July 28 for the funeral of Rafiqul and Mahfuzul.
