If she receives enough support, Kamala Harris might replace Joe Biden as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate. So, who supports the vice president?

Former President Obama has not endorsed Kamala Harris to succeed Joe Biden as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.

Instead of endorsing the vice president, he said, “I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges.”

So, who supports Kamala Harris?

After stepping down, Mr Biden backed Ms Harris to succeed him, saying, “I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be our party’s nominee this year.” Democrats, it’s time to band together and defeat Trump.”

Ms Harris responded, saying, “I am honored to have the President’s endorsement, and I intend to earn and win this nomination.”

Soon after, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined Biden in supporting her, claiming that this was the best way to prevent Donald Trump from returning to the White House for a second term as president.

We’ve been through many ups and downs, but nothing has made us more concerned about our country than the threat posed by a second Trump administration,” their statement said.

Now is the moment to rally around Kamala Harris and fight with everything we have to get her elected.

Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania’s governor, and prospective presidential candidate, endorsed Harris on Sunday evening.

He said in a statement on X that the only road forward for the Democratic Party is to rapidly rally behind Vice President Harris and work on capturing the president.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg endorsed Harris’ campaign, saying he would “do everything I can” to elect her as the next president.

Senator Chris Coons, a longtime friend of Ms Harris, has also endorsed the vice president, and the Biden for President campaign has officially changed its name to “Harris for President” with the Federal Election Commission.

According to the campaign, Ms Harris will issue updated FEC filings soon.

This letter informs you that Vice President Harris will no longer run for Vice President in the 2024 election. The FEC announcement stated that Vice President Harris is now a contender for President of the United States.

In a video posted on X, Senator Elizabeth Warren stated that she supports Harris because she is “ready to go toe-to-toe with Donald Trump and win.” The senator had previously said she would back Ms. Harris if Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

Adam Schiff, a California Democrat running for Senate, has backed Harris, saying she has the “judgment, experience, leadership, and tenacity to take on and defeat Donald Trump.

The Congressional Black Caucus, a group of black Democrats, said they joined Mr Biden in “fully supporting” Ms Harris as the Democratic presidential contender. At the same time, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez vowed her “full support” to assure the vice president’s victory in November.

Governor Jared Polis posted three emojis on X indicating his support for Ms Harris: a coconut, a palm tree, and an American flag.

The emojis refer to a remark Ms Harris has frequently used: “You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?” You exist within the framework of your surroundings and what has come before you.

Other Democrats, including acclaimed former party leader James Clyburn, Jasmine Crockett, Jamie Raskin, Eric Swalwell, Debbie Dingell, and Mazie Hirono, have endorsed Ms Harris.
