A mass shooting in Virginia resulted in two deaths and three injuries before the perpetrator fled the area.
The five victims were shot near downtown Suffolk around 11:25 p.m. on the 800 block of East Washington Street, outside the HM White Bus Service garage.
According to a news release from local police, authorities discovered many people with gun wounds when they got on the site.
One adult male was pronounced dead on the scene, while another died of his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Three more patients were taken to a nearby hospital and received medical care for their injuries.
Suffolk officers spent hours going over the site overnight searching for evidence but have not given any information about a probable suspect or motivation.
The victims’ identities, ages, and the severity of their injuries have also not been revealed, as authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

It comes after a linebacker at Division II West Virginia State was tragically shot during a house invasion, according to the university, which authorities are investigating.
Jyilek Zyiare Harrington, 21, of North Carolina, was discovered dead inside an apartment in Charleston on Wednesday night, according to police Lieutenant Tony Hazelett’s statement.
According to West Virginia State, counselors are provided to students and educators on campus.
