President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump attended competing rallies on the penultimate day of the election to remake Congress.

Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump made their final appeals to New York and Florida voters, respectively.

Recent momentum has turned toward the Republicans, who are attempting to seize control of both chambers from the Democrats.

Polling indicates that they are favorites to win control of the House of Representatives, but the Senate is a coin flip.

Winning one chamber would seriously impede the legislative agenda of President Biden.

On Monday, the penultimate day of the campaign, his party is bracing for losses even in regions of the country where Democrats often perform well.

He appeared at a rally in New York on Sunday to support Governor Kathy Hochul, who is facing an unexpectedly tough campaign from Republican contender Lee Zeldin, who is backed by President Trump.

She has gotten assistance from Democratic A-listers, including former President Bill Clinton, Vice-President Kamala Harris, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in the last stages of her campaign.

In his remarks, Mr. Biden referred to the election as “a defining moment” for the next two decades. He addressed the electorate at Sarah Lawrence College that they must choose between two “fundamentally divergent views of America.”

In the meantime, his predecessor in the White House, Mr. Trump, was in Miami where he blasted Democrats for driving the country towards “communism” for nearly an hour.

Mr. Trump told the group, “Democrats want to turn America into a communist Cuba or socialist Venezuela.”

“We welcome every Hispanic American in Florida and across the country with open arms into our [Republican] party,” he added.

Mr. Trump also continued to imply that he may run for president again in 2024, encouraging Ohio voters to “keep tuned” for his Monday event.

Polls indicate that the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives is likely to be lost.

Senate control will likely depend on the outcomes of three contests in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Nevada.

According to analysts, over 40 million ballots have already been cast during the early voting session, surpassing the total number of early votes cast in 2018.

Mail-in ballots typically take longer to count than votes cast in person, so numerous races will likely be too close to call on Tuesday evening.

Several crucial battleground states, such as Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, prohibit election officials from commencing the vote count before election day.

What takes place on Monday?

Mr. Biden will hold a rally in Maryland, a state typically regarded as a Democratic bastion.

Mr. Trump is planning an evening rally in Ohio for longtime Trump critic and novelist J.D. Vance.

First Lady Jill Biden will travel to Virginia to support incumbent Representative Jennifer Wexton.

In Miami is Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, a potential Trump White House opponent in 2024.
