Mr. Trump, suspecting that the governor of Florida may become a formidable opponent in the next presidential election, labeled him as “an average Republican governor with excellent public relations.”
Donald Trump referred to Ron DeSantis as an “average” politician to demean a potential rival for the Republican presidential nomination.
Mr. DeSantis, 44, was re-elected as governor of Florida with nearly 60 percent of the vote, establishing him as a rising star and a potential candidate for the presidency in 2024.
In contrast, former president Donald Trump referred to him as “Ron DeSanctimonious,” a politician who ran for his first term in 2017 “in dire shape.”
Mr. Trump stated, “Politically, he was dead, having lost in a landslide to a very good agriculture commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was flush with funds and had excellent poll ratings.
“Ron had low approval, poor poll numbers, and no money, but he said he could win with my support.
When I endorsed him, it was as if a nuclear weapon had been detonated, to use a negative analogy.
Mr. Trump praised himself for preventing Mr. DeSantis’ victory from being “stolen” after stating, “I also fixed his campaign, which had completely gone apart.”
Mr. Trump continues to assert, despite the lack of actual proof, that the 2020 election he lost to Joe Biden was rigged.
The majority of midterm voters rejected politicians who supported Mr. Trump’s allegations.
In many areas, it is still too early to call the election, but although the Republicans may still win both houses of Congress, they did not win as easily as many had predicted.
Some of Mr. Trump’s fellow Republican legislators have blamed him for this, leaving him vulnerable after six years of largely unchallenged party dominance.
He wrote on social media that he is “extremely busy planning for the future” and added, “Remember that I am a ‘Stable Genius’.”
Mr. Trump, 76, has hinted that he will run for president again and has already teased a major announcement on November 15, when he is expected to officially declare his candidacy.
He stated that Mr. DeSantis is “playing games” by refusing to rule out a presidential bid in 2024, adding: “The Fake News asks him whether he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he responds, ‘I’m only focusing on the governor’s race; I’m not looking into the future.’
In terms of loyalty and etiquette, this is not the correct response.
He described the run-up to his 2016 victory as one in which several opponents “disappeared from view… as I simply eliminated them, one by one.”
“We are currently in the same position.
They will continue to pursue us, MAGA, but we will finally prevail.
Put America first and restore America’s greatness!
Mr. DeSantis has not commented on the remarks made by Mr. Trump.
