China has announced that it will present its proposal for ending the Ukraine conflict by the end of this month.

This is an opportunity for the United States and China to establish a dialogue on the elements of peace and come to a mutual understanding of their respective positions on the elements of peace.

Russia and Ukraine share many issues with the US, China, and other nations competing for resources. There is no better method for negotiating these issues than through third-party mediation.

If China and the United States can agree on how to deal with these issues, even if it does not end the conflict in Ukraine, it will be well worth the effort, as the United Nations is incapable of addressing them. If the China-US relationship ever deteriorates to the extent of violence, there is no power on earth capable of containing the resulting aggression. Therefore the remainder of the world will be forced to choose sides or remain on the sidelines and hope for a sustainable outcome.

Biden and Ukraine should follow Xi’s lead.

According to public statements attributed to Xi and Biden, the two have a great deal in common. heir differences lie primarily in areas where they compete directly. Together, Xi and Biden have sway over the vast majority of the 193 UN members and could approve a massive overhaul of the organization, including its peacekeeping efforts and member accountability.

Regardless of the outcome in Ukraine, third-party peace negotiations between the United States and China with Russia and Ukraine’s veto are a win for Russia and Ukraine, a win for China and the United States, and a win for world peace. If necessary, both Xi and Biden have the temperament to agree to disagree.

Why not match Xi’s commitment to publish China’s road to peace in Ukraine with a similar US proposal, President Biden? There may be more agreement than the world anticipates.
